Slow Food of SJ’s apprentice farmer program

Slow Food of SJ is accepting applications to apprentice on Beach Plum Farm located in West Cape May. The Farm grows organic produce for five restaurants in Cape May and Atlantic City. Volunteers must commit to work 2-4 hours a week and in exchange will receive whatever fruits and vegetables are being harvested.

Slow Food ® of South Jersey is now accepting applications for 15 “apprentice farmer” slots.  The basic requirements to participate are

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Good physical health and mobility
  • Ability to work 2-4 hrs./week under supervision in exchange for gaining experience and being paid in whatever fresh fruits and vegetables are being harvested (Idea:  Finding a partner to share this responsibility will make this work easily!)
  • Eagerness to learn to grow organically grown food
