Locavore odds and ends: Lots of ways to enjoy summer’s bounty
2010 July 23
Really quick today and no garden photo. It’s been a very busy work week. Not complaining. When you own your own business, being busy is a really great thing.
Here are a few things I wanted to bring to your attention. Some of them might be reminders, but are worth repeating.
- A Wine Art Music Poetry Project (WAMPP) charity fundraiser benefiting the Cardiomyopathy Foundation and congenital heart disease research will be held at Amalthea Cellars, 209 Vineyard Rd, Atco. on July 31 from 11:30 AM to 5 PM; admission is free, but a suggested donation will be posted at the entrance. WAMPP seems to be a new organization that will be hosting regular events, and I’m going to be looking more into them in the upcoming weeks and let you know what they are all about.
- Also on July 31, dinner on the farm will be held at 1895 Organic Farm, 303 Landing St, Lumberton, hosted by Robin’s Nest Restaurant, Mount Holly. 6 PM; $50 including tax and gratuity; BYO. For reservations call 609-261-6149. Rain date: 8/1.
- Farm Fresh Collingswood Week will start Monday, July 26th. Restaurants throughout Collingswood will have four course dinners for $30 that feature foods bought at the Collingswood Farmers Market.
- Johnson’s Farm in Medford has had a plentiful corn crop this year, and through this Sunday, July 25th, they are giving away a dozen ears of corn with the purchase of a dozen. Take a look at their site for their activities, and plan a trip to take a hay ride with the family, then take home armfuls of delicious corn.
Enjoy your weekend!
