Locavore app for iPhone and Android is free today – April 22

It’s Earth Day, and whether you’re recognizing it or not, if you read this blog, you’ll want to know about this. The Locavore app, which usually costs $2.99 is free today only. I have the app, and I find it most handy when I’m traveling because it zeroes in on your location and tells you what is in season where you are and where you can find local foods. One of the newest features on the app is a feature that tells you what specific markets have specific local foods right now.

I just updated the app on my iPhone (I’ve had it since it came out two years ago), and the where to buy feature is working, but I don’t think it’s a complete picture of everywhere to buy. Asparagus and spinach are in season right now, and the closest it says I can get either is down in Glassboro. It’s a new feature, so I’m sure it will improve with time.

Head over to Getlocavore.com to check out all the details or just download it now. It’s free so if you don’t like it, you haven’t lost anything, right?
